Hello, my name is Michael Richards and I’m a video marketer for a small/medium web developing company based in Chicago, Il. Last year, the company I work for was in the planning stages of creating a viral marketing campaign for a video that was created by a client of ours. At the time, our client YouTube video had less than 100 views and at least 3 subscribers. We had to come up with a way to get YouTube views and attract people into subscribing to his channel. After completion of our marketing campaign, our clients YouTube views was up in the 100,000 range with over 10,000 subscribers that was subscribed to his channel. Today I will discuss a few easy techniques we used in our campaign.
Ask your viewers nicely to subscribe to your channel.
One of the easiest and most overlooked technique to getting more channel subscribers, is to simply ask your viewers to click the subscribe button. This technique has been used ever since the beginning days of YouTube. If you can great videos and able to keep your watchers engaged, your viewers should not have a problem subscribing to your channel. Getting people to subscribe to your channel is one of the most important steps to a viral marketing campaign. The way we implemented this technique in our client video, is by creating a annotation with the text “Subscribe now” at the end of his video.
Contact other channels that have a lot of subscribers
This is another extremely easy method that most video marketers overlook. YouTube has a built in messaging system that you can use to contact other popular channels within the same niche. Successful YouTube channel owners are quite friendly and might not mind collaborating on a video project with you. This method can work with almost any niche, no matter if the owner of the channel lives next door to you or 5,000 miles away. After you find someone to collaborate on a video project with you, ask them to upload the video to their channel and include an annotation, link, or message in the video, asking watchers to subscribe to your channel. We used this method with our client video and his YouTube views and subscribers increased x100.
Summary
As you can see, gaining YouTube subscribers doesn’t always have to be so complicated. Simply asking someone to subscribe to your channel or collaborate on a video with you can increase your subscribers dramatically.
